Oil Painting with Rags

Join local artist, Elaine Liberio, for an afternoon of oil painting with rags. This workshop is suitable for both beginners and advanced painters who are looking for new techniques to try!

Students will work from the same photo (see far left picture in above image: a waterscape off the coast of Maine. Photo credit to Michele Whidden). Elaine will lead students step by step through the painting process. We will talk about the materials used, tone and value, color and color mixing, paint application (thick over thin), blocking in, composition and more.

Since we will be painting with rags, not brushes, folks who have never painted with oils before are not as hesitant to lay paint to canvas as  they are with a brush, giving them more confidence to go for it.
