Angelia Salerno
"Making art is a humbling adventure into self knowledge and simultaneously a way to know others."
About the Artist
Angelia Salerno was an art teacher out of college and subsequently got a dual degree in Art History and Information Studies. When she taught English to speakers of Other Languages with Bilingual Spanish studies, art was a wonderful teaching and communication tool.
The personality of her animal "portraits" really shine through and are based on legends and stories of the Americas. She also experiments with landscapes in oil. Her music background, specifically with the violin, contributes to her experimental landscape painting journey. Nineteenth and early 20th century landscape painting and photography, particularly tonalist work, has been a major influence on her recent work as well. When she is not painting, Angelia enjoys gardening, reading, playing violin, making bread and homemade pasta, walking and enjoying nature.
